Sisters!

The Mission are great and all, but literally every song on every Sisters album, to say nothing of the huge list of incredible singles, is fucking astonishing.

But Bauhaus or The Birthday party? Just entertaining that one fucks me sideways
"lol, listen to op 'music' and you'll understand"....

Very hard.

First Last and Always is a fantastic record. When I was 14, I listened to it every night on headphones while reading the Spiderworld novels by Colin Wilson. I reckon I could still play any of the songs on guitar without having to refer to the record.

I saw the Sisters play last year (my wife made me go). It was absolutely terrible. One of the worst gigs I've ever been to. Dreadful.

I saw the Mission play any number of times in my teens, and they were always hilarious, unapologetic, balls-out rock and roll. Brilliant entertainment. I reckon I could still play most of the first Mission album, and the previous EPs on guitar.

Both first albums are great for a novice guitarist.

Very hard. :WF: 10

Fields of the Nephilim on the other hand, ugh. That dude is all the worst traits of every "darkwave" singer mixed into one. The guitarist should've started his own band.

Yeah I think you are right. I couldn't sleep like two days ago and listened to both of these bands for about five hours while reading and I think I will go with The Sisters of Mercy.

I also would take Fields of the Nephilim over either of these - the spaghetti western parts make me smile and (very, very) occasionally they sounded inter-dimensional, at least for a UK goth band covered in flour.

Sisters of Mercy take the poll for the early recordings - no, earlier than whatever you just thought reading that. Like "Damage Done." I would dance to that at 3am in Late Bar, sure. I can't think of a Mission song that has the same "fun" vibe.
