In this corner, the debut album by X from Los Angeles, California, aptly titled Los Angeles.
And in the green trunks, the debut album by X from Australia, Aspirations.
Keep it clean, touch gloves, and come out fighting.
Re: Thunderdome: Battle Of The Xes
2Rupture, who were sort of the Australian Anal Cunt (except musically interesting and fun, neither of which AxCx were) did a great cover of Hate City by the ozzie X. This has very little bearing on the quality of the Xes themselves, I guess.
Re: Thunderdome: Battle Of The Xes
3Los Angeles will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the first good punk albums I'd heard. The Australian version is also great, though.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: Thunderdome: Battle Of The Xes
4Los Angeles overcomes -
- That a member of The Doors produced it.
- That a member of The Doors played on it.
- That there is a cover of a The Doors song on it.
If you can sneak out from under that kind of P. Diddy nonsense to create a great record?
You are in very rare company.
It is obviously Los Angeles.

Re: Thunderdome: Battle Of The Xes
5^ Fun fact: The Doors were one of the main influences on Joy Division.
Not as fun fact: I've never heard the Aus X. I'll have to spend some time with them before I can vote, but I love the shit out of the other X.

Re: Thunderdome: Battle Of The Xes
7X (LA) were such a strange band. If someone were describing them to me I don't think I would feel good about it, but it works so well. Great band.
Re: Thunderdome: Battle Of The Xes
8so, is it sort of known the X-LA cover was, ahem, influenced by the X-Aspiration cover? or is this really a bizarre coincidence?
I haven't listened to X-Aus at all either. Based on this song, probably X-LA but X-Aus sounds worth checking out.
