3The Monks, early Pink Floyd, not exactly 'hard rock' but electric Miles Davis.. easy Not Crap examples and I'm sure I'm missing a ton.
Re: Rock and roll instrument: Organ
4Rarely ever crap. I still want a Farfisa Compact when I retire. Love the old Vox, Clavinet, Ace Tone, so many....Hammond of course.

5In the context of 70's hard rock, Hammond players in particular, it is total crap. Absolute cornball crap.
I'm not even remotely considering Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Stranglers, or Miles Davis, or Booker T, or dub/reggae, or funk/soul...
But Steppenwolf, Grand Funk, Uriah Heap, Deep Purple, Boston's "Foreplay"(oouufff) and so on. Just so terribly corny.
90s crap like Charlatans or Black Crowes, or more recent bands like Wolfmother or Greta Van Fleet "throwing back" to this sound - even worse!

DIY and die anyway.
Re: Rock and roll instrument: Organ
6I, too, enjoy the sound of the organ coupled with a rock and roll beat. There's transistor organ all over garage rock, krautrock and new wave, and Hammonds were a big part of 60s R&B, so it's not just a prog sound.
Re: Rock and roll instrument: Organ
7While irrefutably crap, Billy Joel was less crap when running his organ into a Marshall with Attila.
Easy NC in the context of Deep Purple Mk II along with the first Lucifer's Friend and Uriah Heep records.

We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: Rock and roll instrument: Organ
8I like it! But I tend to favor the cheapo Farfisa and Vox stuff over a Hammond.
Re: Rock and roll instrument: Organ
9Yeah.. possibly my ignorance but I didn't know if those counted as organs. If so that opens up a ton more stuff (the fuckin' Screamers!)tommy wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 10:20 am I like it! But I tend to favor the cheapo Farfisa and Vox stuff over a Hammond.
