Instagram trend: posting selfies holding records you bought

1
My feed is swamped with people holding records. I can't tell if people are just showing off what they bought or recommending a record. On one hand, I think it's pretty awesome that people build a collection of physical copies of records that I assume to mean a lot to them. On the other hand: I also like to make cauliflower in bechamel sauce. Do I post a selfie with my groceries? #cabbagelife #bechamelmatters #gruyerenotcheddar #swisscheese4life #ifitaintwhiteitaintfood

Agreed. Thanks for clarifying. Before covid, I quite enjoyed the "what's spinning" trend. Now it's definitely shifted to retail porn. At least twice a day a selfie flashes by of someone who bought the record-with-shirt package, and takes selfies with both... in an obnoxious way, they make an angry face with it. I guess this signals my imminent departure from Meta platforms.

THIS is what it takes?

If it makes someone happy to flash their latest purchases, fine. I only follow people I know, so I get happy to see that they scored an LP they really wanted. I guess if influencers were on my feed, I'd be annoyed.
