Which of the big four first-wave UK punk bands tickles your fancy?
I grew up more with the Sex Pistols, then erred towards Buzzcocks, and now am on more on team Damned. "New Rose" is unbeatable.
Re: First Wave UK Punk-dome
2They're all pretty great except the Pistols. Although they were also my introduction and Bollocks is a cool record.
I voted Damned as a more recent convert. Machine Gun Etiquette is amazing.
Buzzcocks have some classic songs. The Clash have already been debated on here recently, but I'm an apologist.

4I'm voting Damned although I think my pick is Ruts.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: First Wave UK Punk-dome
5Voted The Damned; miles better than all the rest in the poll.
But I would probably pick Wire if offered the option.

6That first Pistols Lp is unbeatable.
And you all know it.
Yeah, sometimes I feel like giving a spin to singles going steady or New rose...
But come on, is the Pistols.

Re: First Wave UK Punk-dome
7Pistols w/out hesitation - one of the greatest lead singers backed by the most compact and powerful takes on pure RnR. (The fabled Berry-Williamson-Thunders continuum). Just listen to the first few seconds of 'Anarchy' - none of the other bands came close to that moment.
If we're ranking... Damned (too quirky, but many great moments over the first 5), Buzzcocks (pretty consistently great but not to my tastes), 1000 leagues under the sea, then The Clash. My hatred of the Clash only builds over time.

8Get a buzz, cock.
All those early records are great not just the singles, and Pete Shelley was way ahead of most of his peers.
made in 1974!
the Damned are underrated though. Way better at the straight up rock and roll thing than the Pistols or Clash imo.

10Buzzcocks by a street, Damned and Pistols tucked in behind, and The Clash still on the starting blocks.
