Melody and harmony for days, voices like honey. I only dare sing either one if I’m alone in the shower or car.
I’m gonna go with Roy. I get a little misty when that guy belts it out
Re: Roy Orbison vs The Everly Brothers
3Pretty good showdown actually....I dunno the right answer. On one hand Roy's material in terms of lyrics is more timeless, as it is less saddled with the perspective of a teenager, but then the Everly's did Songs Our Daddy Taught Us, which reconciled all that. Love the Everly rhythm guitar sound, and they kind of predicted the whole British Invasion sound. Roy's singing is incomparable.
So really it comes down to whether you prefer selling yourself to Danzig over selling your daughter to Axl Rose.

4Yep. At one time, 'Crying' was one of my favorite songs. He gets my vote.
The only Everlys song I really liked that got played on oldies radio was 'Wake Up Little Susie'. I guess 'Bye Bye Love' was OK too.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

5The Everly Brothers by a nose. Those close harmonies are like getting a tummy rub with warm butter.
Re: Roy Orbison vs The Everly Brothers
6It's Roy, but it is close.
I love Roy's hits but a lot of his album tracks are less remarkable, whereas the Everly Brothers are the opposite for me.

8Not a fan of The Everlys, but I would rather sit on a horny syphilis-infected porcupine than have to endure Roy Orbison.

Re: Roy Orbison vs The Everly Brothers
9I went Everly Brothers but second guess even now. Good poll.
Orbison’s voice is a god given marvel, almost inhuman. It beckons from a distance.
The Everlys come across as very talented lusty young hillbillies. Those harmonies are divine yet homespun.
Youthful energy is rock ‘n roll so Don and Phil. But I could feel differently tomorrow.
