Re: Introducing the band
2As in during the song? Not Crap for Clutch's X-Ray Visions/horoscope bit.

Re: Introducing the band
3Singer in my band once said "I'd like to introduce the band" and then introduced us to each other. That was a good joke.
Re: Introducing the band
4It depends on the context.
My band does it, but we normally play 3-4 hour gigs (bar band playing mostly covers) and many people may not know the band. We'll take a few very short breaks between songs to mention the band name and the players.
If you're playing a 45-minute "show" set and the audience is mainly there to see that band, it's probably not necessary.
Anyway, I voted NC.

Re: Introducing the band
5I like to do a brief introduction, just to let the audience know that none of us are named Gary.
Re: Introducing the band
6Not crap, give the drummer some, ffs.
I like it when they do it while playing and each person does a little "wheedly-whoo" when it's their turn.
Having said that, lately I find myself annoyed by the 90's punk/indie "first names only" convention.
How many 7"s do you own that are like "(insert name of band here) is Andy, Nick, Brad, Matt." Come on.
I'm not saying I never participated in this practice, but it sure seems silly to me now.

Re: Introducing the band
7Not crap, but it becomes crap when the singer introduces themself at the end.
Re: Introducing the band
8Rock bands shouldn't do it. You all agreed to be Pink Spacewolves or whatever, no one needs to know about you as individuals. Now if a guest joins sure, introduce them, but keep it classy and brief.
