Example:
Blur or Oasis?
Me: Pulp
Valid opening up of a Q into broader territory, or spineless copout?

I usually find it annoying. Just make a choice.
Exception:
Responder, either intentionally or unintentionally, answers question with a “yes” instead of making a choice.
Example:
“Would you like soup or salad?”
“Yes.”

8I picked "not crap" because a snarky third answer can inadvertently lead to someone discovering/trying something new--maybe there's someone out there who has heard Blur and Oasis, but not Pulp and checks them out because of the snarky response--I think that is always a good thing.A_Man_Who_Tries wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:44 am Example:

9The addition of "snarky" makes it crap. My experience of this is usually some form of exhaustion technique. Like a Gish gallop.
Honestly refusing to accept a binary because the framing underlying it is questionable, and having a good faith discussion as to why = never crap.

10This is interesting to me, because I hadn't entertained the idea that a third answer could be anything but snarky.brephophagist wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 2:14 pm The addition of "snarky" makes it crap. My experience of this is usually some form of exhaustion technique. Like a Gish gallop.
