Crap or not crap: prattling on (to someone who probably didn’t ask) about things that happened when your brain was flushing its toilet, as if they were real or relevant events.

It’s a NC from me.

Like some folks who tell stories, some folks who talk about their dreams can take it to a place that is far past boring, but, yeah, a brief discussion about and attempting to analyze a dream is interesting to me.

Very hard to do it well enough to be engaging. You either need to be incredibly succinct ("I dreamt I was in a sword fight with a giant salmon"), or set it up well to get all of the dramatic punch which is very, very challenging considering that dreams don't usually operate with the temporal logic that makes stories good.

Part of it is that the sensation of the dream is palpable for the dreamer and has a lack of clear reference points to the listener.

My wife once called me out for interrupting her dream recounts with my own. We later realized that we were seldom interested in a detailed recap of a dream from most anyone, but still we share. I'd argue I'm better at summarizing.

Easiest way to keep me making eye contact whilst I daydream myself about how my clothes feel weird or some other shit. Sorry Holmes, that in-flight movie was for you and you alone. But again, I will pretend to listen. I'm not totally heartless.

I think some people put too much stock in dreams, like they're omens. These folks probably also believe in astrology.

I just arose from a dream wherein I was bit on the arm by some indeterminate insect. It looked shiny blue and mechanical. I ran into my childhood home and started freaking-out telling my siblings I've just been bit by something and need to go to the emergency room. The bite mark started growing into what appeared to be a miniscule skin volcano with the flesh inside of the crater slowly becoming necrotic. Then I woke up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
