Both bands share a lot of similarities. Juvenile lyrics, both eventually co-opting the hardcore movement, notorious infighting.

Even in PRF, this poll should come close. Ill just cast my vote for the Angry Samoans because like Vom/Richard Meltzer and that Mark Prindle interview is pretty great.

Regardless, Static Age is enough for me to vote for the Misfits over most punk bands, including here. It's pretty far up on my list of favorite albums ever, and "Come Back" might be my favorite song about a bird. I only wonder what would have happened if it would have been released right after it was recorded. Sad they went metal.

Yeah...

The Misfits executed it well, but just how much it is "Misfits..." is kinda in the eye of the beholder.

About 2/3rds of Back from Samoa is great (way greater than it needs to be for such an obnoxious band), but the Misfits have way more better material, despite being Kiss-levels of dumb.

Danzig and Jerry Only were (and are) cornballs from Lodi, but they had a ton of great songs. I'd say Earth A.D. was their only "hardcore" record, though.

"Lights Out" is a great song. Both bands were pretty excellent.

Misfits, and it's not even close. I find little similarity between the two bands. Much respect to the Samoans for "Get off the Air" though.

Sort of a joke. He does talk about a raven coming back to bite his face. But I'm guessing it's a metaphor for something else.

I think "Hybrid Moments" is great. The Misfits ruled.

Those lyrics so far surpass anything even close to "Kiss level dumb" and somehow sound brilliant.
