Louie, Louie. The fact that the singer missed his cue, and they kept it in, because it was awesome is icing on the cake. Those poor bastards made like 2 cents off this incredibly famous song, because it's a cover and they generally got fucked over.

I love all three of these songs.

But if you're putting these three up against each other, all things considered, I don't know how you can vote against "Louie Louie".

"You're Gonna Miss Me" is pure Texas fire. That track should be put in a time capsule. I vote for it.

The great thing about this (and most other Sonics songs) is that if at any point you forget the words, you can just scream "waaaaahhhhhh" and it pretty much works.

Personally I'd take "Strychnine" or "Have Love, Will Travel" over "The Witch." They're all good though.

I'm not sure what the criteria was to determine these 3 songs, but I don't care. "You're gonna miss me" belongs with the rest and is the one I consistently go back to. I was convinced that it was a woman howling that initial scream for forever.

There's a Roky Erickson and the Explosives live thing called "Halloween" I picked up a while back. It's tremendous.
