2Went with the debut. The right record at the right time.

3Regarding recent Pitchfork news: right around the time they started heavily hyping this pretentious swell music was when I began to think less of their opinion.
But I'd agree the debut "Ep" sums up what they did pretty well, and at the right length.

4Skinny Fists was the right one at the right time for me. Jammed that one pretty hard along with Young Team and etc for a good while.
I don't remember the 4th album having anything the first three were lacking. And have only given everything afterward a cursory listen...

7I'm picking Slow Riot because it's got basically everything I like about them in two instrumentals. I've played that one the most too. 'Moya' is one of their best ever pieces.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

8Worth saying that I enjoy everything they've put out, and would recommend the post-Yanqui albums to those who never got back on board. I also enjoyed All Lights... when it finally appeared.

9Slow Riot, because of its perfect distillation of their dynamics. That and the “Sleep” side of Skinny Fists give me chills every time I listen.
The poem being an Iron Maiden song is just the perfect little cherry on top.
