Half way thru… feels like being home again, got multiple reservations, but need to see it thru until I get scornful and pedantic….

3Oh! That's actually good to hear. The last few episodes of SG were a hot mess.andyman wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 4:59 am It's like they realised the potential wasted in season one so they rebooted it.
Re: Squid game 2
4It's not a literal reboot as it's definitely set after season 1, but they definitely retread old ground with much better writing (and production values). It's more like South Korean dark comedy/thriller films, which are rad.AttackChimp wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 10:42 amOh! That's actually good to hear. 5Have been watching it with my oldest daughter and it has kept my interest. Just have one episode to go and unless they totally screw it up am gonna go with NC. Not the greatest thing I've watched but just keeping my interest these days is a win.

6This is good to hear, I was hesitant.
As an aside, very strange what a mainstream cultural phenomenon it (still) is. Not the popularity of a grotesquely violent series (and I say that as a fan)- that's a separate discussion- but the outside shit. Kids toys and costumes, a game show, homescapes looking mobile games and crossovers with Johnnie Walker?

Re: Squid game 2
8Finally finished it - I was entertained - gotta give it that, but there were a few silly things in there that just didn’t hold up. Also - our hero 456, who in the first series won our hearts and minds, is reduced to a guy with one facial expression (the thoughtful scowl) for the whole goddam series!
Series 3 awaits… I guess I’ll watch it for closure purposes.
Weird how the franchise has permeated popular culture - for example -

9The action in the final episode was kind of annoying. I get where they were trying to take the plot and like that story, but it's amazing that a show which perfected the suspense of brutal violence would be incapable of depicting armed conflict in a more captivating way.
Also, I hated the cliff hanger.
Loved the crazy shaman lady.
Really needed someone to punch Thanos. Fork that guy.

10…always with her immaculately kohl- rimmed eyes! Her v high standards of personal grooming were probably slightly unachievable given the situation… but whatever…
