I see 2046has seen N. American rental release. What do you think?

on another thread, I wrote:Wong-Kar Wai's most recent movie "2046" is a sequel of sorts to "In The Mood For Love."

"2046" is 3 hours of cinema heaven. I wish it would've been twice as long.

Wong-Kar Wai, or Kar-Wai Wong, is an extraordinary filmmaker.

i met christopher doyle, his DP, here in berlin, and he's a total drunk. very interesting guy though, and obviously quite talented. i think 2046 was allright, but a little redundant after in the mood for love. they admitted this after the fact. still, it's definitely good.

I would watch anything but 2046. 2046 is not so good for this guy.

Very not crap. I haven't seen "2046" yet, but you can't fuck with "Chungking Express", "Fallen Angels", "In the Mood For Love", and "The Days of Being Wild". "Happy Together" is pretty great as well, but not quite as great as those four films.

ITMFL and Fallen Angels are great pieces of cinema.

I could watch his movies with the sound down. Someone reviewing 2046
said everyshot is like something from a photo gallery and i'd have to
agree. I love the way he only really uses half the screen a lot of the time
in this film.

Yes. Except that many of his movies have really interesting soundtracks.

Very few other filmmakers consistently present an overall aesthetic that is as beautiful and all-encompassing as this guy.

Nope Wong Kar Wai is from Hong Kong.
