I voted for Cronenberg, and here's why:
I find his early works much more original,inspiring and chalenging.Films like "shivers","rabid","videodrome","dead ringers"...
As for Lynch,he will be remembered for "blue valvet" and "twin peaks".
However, there are many inconsistencies that bothers me about his recent work.
It became too lynchian.

I own a copy of Videodrome. I felt that Twin Peaks was an irritating TV show. I think that both directors are completely mad, but Cronenberg gets the vote since he is the only director represented in my library.

I like each director equally well I'd say, especially the earlier works.

Cronenberg: Most of his films including and leading up to Dead Ringers.

Lynch: Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks.

Lynch was an inspiration for me in making my film, especially the work he did on Eraserhead. Haven't seen Inland Empire, but his films after Blue Velvet seem like a retread of ideas explored in the earlier works to lesser effect. I still like Lost Highway and Mullholland Dr, just not as much as the aforementioned titles, although LH is stunning visually.

I like the wackier Cronenburg stuff over his latest ventures.

Yes. Advantage: Lynch

I don't find Cronenberg films stand up to as many watches as Lynch films. I have a couple of Cronenberg's in my (tiny) DVD collection, can only take videodrome etc. a few times then I just find it dull. Excellent the first time round though. I didn't think Spider was that spectacular either.
I can revisit Lynch more often though and this is an important factor when you have no TV and about 10 dvds. Plus I love twin peakes and quite liked mulholland and looking forward to seeing the new one. Lynch overall I think

I didn´t really get Spider at all, but other than that I like all of his stuff between The Brood and A History of Violence, without exception (well, haven´t seen eXistenz yet).

I really like Lynch, but Cronenberg on this one.

Man, this is a tough one. If you took ALL of Cronenberg and ALL of Lynch and compared, I would probably go with Lynch. I liked Cronenberg's cheesey horor movies, but I didn't want to see them a second time. Lynch is always good for a second run, no matter what movie it is.

Where Lynch creeps you out and makes you think harder that you've ever done before, Cronenberg sucks you in with simple story telling and some good old-fashioned squeamy gore.

Cronenberg has been making some amazing films in the last 20 years (Naked Lunch is one of my favorites) and though Lynch is still on top of his game, I gotta go with Cronenberg for making me fall in love with his stuff and the growth he's shown since he started out as a regular pud from Canada.

I've seen Eraserhead and Wild At Heart. Complete meh, if not crap.
