surpised he's avoided a crap/not crap discussion. i think he's fantastic, and quite influential. I don't like every thing he's done, but there is some great stuff he has played and produced

NOT CRAP for quitting Roxy Music.
CRAP for producing one too many bad U2 records.

Not crap. I've been picking up the remastered series of his vocal/ambient/soundtrack works and they're sounding great. I'd rather have it all on original vinyl, but I don't have that kind of dough.

Throughout his career, it seems to me that he piggybacked/bogarted a lot of things he heard other people do, and then claimed credit for it.

But his best work is impossible to deny.

MANY reasons to say NOT CRAP, but if all of those were wiped away except for "Third Uncle" stacked next to all the crap he has ended up doing over the years, i'd still have to say NOT CRAP...

Certainly not crap. I suppose one could argue that he influenced a lot of bad electronic music, but that's no fault of the many good things he made. Now what's up with that theme park he was going to build...?

It's very good. Eno is not crap.

You absolutely cannot fault those first coupla' solo records
Before and after science / Here come the warm jets / Anothergreen world
Taking tiger mountain by strategy / the first 3 roxy music records.
An odd bit of revisionist history came to me a coupla years ago.
As a kid i always liked the Talking Heads, especially that song
Once in a lifetime. Though listening to it now it just seems to be
an extension of where he was going on his solo records. At twelve
i was a bit clueless as to the eno axis of treatments he was smearing all over that music. "Remain in Light " is one of my favorites so far as production in music that was not written by him.
oh yeah, i still really love / like Achtung Baby.
i feel like i just admitted i like to club baby seals.
