This is a tough one. I love the first Terminator for all its cheesiness and crappy effects, but the second one blew my mind. I also saw it when I was 9 in the theater.



VS.

the first one isn't cheesy, and the effects are just fine.

the second one is stupid. he only wore the sunglasses and biker getup in the first one because he gouged his broken eye out, and a big dumb biker was the first guy he saw his size.

those two things alone ruin the sequels for me.

The first one does it for me. Action, sex, flashbacks - one good low budget movie.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines blows them both out of the water.

I'm watching T3 right now, and I just watched the first one. Space is running a marathon.

I think the second one is best. T3 is pretty cheesy.

It's also fucking beyond stupid.
The end monologue is comedy gold.

There are actually some genuinely rad moments.

"PUT DOWN THE GUN... AND THE, UH, COFFIN"

"Your levity is good. It relieves tension and fear of death."

And so on. The little cheesy fan service touches are funny too - like, the police psychiatrist is the same guy from the first film, so when Arnie shows up he just runs blindly away, into the cemetery.

Man the end of this film is kind of a bummer. Comedy gold ending monologue though.

The monologue is in the quotes section on IMDB, but reading them does not do it justice at all.
I actually saw this in the theater for free when it premiered.
