2NOT CRAP.
He is charming in person.
"Cowards Bend The Knee" was a bit long-winded for me.
His new one, "Brand Upon The Brain" is coming to the Music Box in May. According to their recent circular, the initial showings will be presented by Mr. Maddin, and the film will screen with

5haven't seen anything of Maddin's since Heart of the World. in general i like his films but sometimes the camp and no-budget garishness are a bit much.

7The Saddest Music in the World is really nice. It's the only Guy Maddin film I've seen.

I still would like to see that even after suffering through his Dracula shitscape. That was probably the worst movie I've ever seen. It made me hate everyone in it.
There is something to be said about a bad major budget movie, in that people in the film are benefiting from it in some way (money, exposure, personal amusement). It isn't so much their fault because of all the cooks.
Indie bad movies have no excuse. Obviously some, if not most people involved think they are doing something great. When it comes out as total garbage, you know it is because they are total garbage.
Am I right? Who's with me?
Crap.

9I think that Guy Maddin's visit to The Walker was the funniest thing I've ever seen in any museum. Really fun interview. It's probably archived online at walkerart.org. I was surprised at how self-effacing he is. I was expecting him to be annoying. Instead, he was great.

10Sissy Boy Slap Party Director's Cut is pretty crazy... includes two extra minutes of complete insanity. Plus, you get to see the credits when it's over. Hey burun! Saw your name there... kudos!
Edit: Oops, the credits say Jody (w/ a "y") maybe it's someone else?
