Make sure you have BitTorrent first, Doc.

I recently watched MST3K take on "Manos: Hands of Fate" yet again. WOW. Even as funny as they make it, it's still excruciating.

One of my favorite MST3K moments: They're watching a flick about a disembodied arm that crawls around and strangles people. At the beginning of the movie, we see the arm inching across the floor and Crow says, "Didn't he used to play with Def Leppard?"

Secondede. It would have my nomination for best film on MST3K, but it is too hard to sit through it and accept that living, breathing people had a hand in its creation.

Also, if you're a Spanish speaker, it the name must sound like "Hands: the Hands of Fate."

Hee. This is one of the jokes during the opening credits.

Torgo: "The master is away. It'll be dark soon. The master is away."

Guys: "It'll be dark soon."

God, i love that episode! The only one where Dr. Forrester and Frank addressed Joel & the bots separately and said, "look, we stepped over the line on this one, and we're really sorry."

Another great part is at the end of the episode where Mike dresses up as Torgo, and Forester and Frank get a pizza from "Torgo's pizza".

Actually, I dont even have to explain it - the whole thing is on youtube

"Wow, the pizza was over two hours late, but it's still warm!

BLEAUGH!"

So good.

Nerd disclosure: I attended the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Conventio-Con-Expo-Fest-Arama in 1994, and the hotel had all night screenings of various episodes, including the biggies, like "Manos," "Pod People," and "Cave Dwellers." There's nothing like a roomfull of nerds erupting with applause when Torgo says "i take care of the place while the master is away" at 4 in the morning.

[hangs head] Doc Awk, I hate to do this, and there's no easy way, and everybody hates quote police, but it's, "There is no way out of here. It'll be dark soon. There is no way out of here."

To lighten things up, I know I've mentioned this here before, but the guy who played Torgo and counted Manos as his only movie appearance, killed himself not long after the movie was finished.

not only did he kill himself, but he was on acid the whole movie.

the movie was made by some local hero who wrote, directed and starred as the main guy, everybody else in the movie was a friend or family member.

"somebody get that cat off the piano!"
