mission of burma
vs.
the birthday party.
two bands enter, one band leaves!
Either-Or: Mission of Burma vs. The Birthday Party
2Screw you.
You are evil.
Too hard.
If this were a Thunderdome, I'd give *myself* up before I let either band perish.

3Mission of Burma, easily. Though I think that this topic is like comparing Big Star to Pavement (ie: apples vs. oranges), I throw all my support behind Mission of Burma. Fuck the Birthday Party and all of their cheesy followers.

4Hmmm...
I wouldn't describe the Birthday Party's followers as "cheesy."
Are you kidding? If not, in what way do you mean that they are cheesy?

5Both good bands who were able to pull off decent Stooges covers, but I have to go with the Birthday Party on this one. Even though I think Nick Cave is kind of a douche...
Very different bands actually. Strange comparision spurred on by an argument in another thread.

6Hmm, this is a tough one. I'll go with The Feelies. Circa 1991.

Man, almost everything I say should be taken with a grain of salt! Who is I, anyways?
All I can say is, I've heard them, and they didn't make any impact on me. Mission of Burma did. I've seen recipes for foods on here that have made me gag in horror. It's all personal opinion, anyways. Think for yerself and all that.
Tastebuds.

Gotcha.
That said, as a member of this Premier Rock Forum, it suprises me that you dislike the BP so much. Most people here like some sort of noisy, disjointed, creep-out rock, and as far as I'm concerned the BP wrote the book on that. Though I love them, I have to say, when I listen to Scratch Acid and Jesus Lizard, all I can think of is how BPish those bands sound.
Which records have you heard by them? Some are much better than others. Also, if you haven't seen the Pleasure Heads Must Burn DVD, I can't recommend it enough.
As for Burma, they are also one of my all time favorite bands, so I will be bowing out of voting in the Post Punk Death Match.
As I've said, just take ime instead, so that these other bands may live.
