On the anecdotal front, when I first got interested in punk roundabout 1993, my dad, who is/was an avid reader of just about anything, including my music mags (he is able to enumerate a fucking host of speedmetal bands even to this day, all the while absolutely hating them), came across an obituary for G.G. Allin.

It fucked with his mind for a long time, and he will still bring it up every once in a while. It was bloody excellent. In fact, it was so excellent that I suspect I planted the mag in a spot where he would be likely to pick it up, but I'm not sure about that.

GG Allin succeeded in frightening me. I had the opportunity to see him play and passed and have never regretted it.

But I'm with Horsewhip on the GG and the Jabbers stuff. I find myself singing "Don't Talk To Me" on a very regular basis. But his other music, videos and musings I have no use for. I never hear him cited as an influence, just brought up as a sick curiousity. Is there any kind of useful legacy here? Doesn't seem so.

*His brother, Merle, always had crazy column-long ads in the back of Maximum Rock n Roll. He seemed to own every record and videos of every band you could imagine. I bought an excellent Big Boys video from him (that showed Biscuit reaching into his armpit at about four songs in, pulling out a sandwich and eating it!) I was worried that the video would have a pooey fingerprint on it when I got it. It did not.
