If we are talking super thin New York style pizza versus stuffed Chicago pan style pizza then New York style takes it. However, there are plenty of joints in Chicago that serve it up New York style. Giggios in Evanston is one excellent example.

I don't know when "Chicago Style" became synonymous with Deep Dish pizza, but when I was a kid in the '60s we never had deep-dish Chicago pizza. Just super-thin pizzas.

And for my tastes, I've had much better pizzas in Chicago than New York.

I've studied this matter extensively. Chicago wins.

But! NY is better for lunch.

Chicago has so much, much more and better food in general.

You can get both in Chicago. New York style is for lunch or as a snack. Deep Dish is for dinner. Go eat a pie at Pequod's,you can order either style, and then tell me who has the best Pizza.
