Station Eleven on HBO.
It does a lot of things I like. When I first read about it I thought, oh man another post apocalyptic narrative. But the whole thing about that kind of speculation is there are so many ways to picture that world, and luckily this vision is pretty unique. Some comparisons drawn to the Leftovers because the show seems even more interested in the psychological and anthropological implications of the apocalypse than the practical challenges.
One touch I like is if the majority of the population was erased the sheer quantity of material goods leftover means that for quite sometime people could be dressed in an eclectic mix of scavenged, new clothing. More of a clearence bin at the sporting goods store than a Mad Max, coyote skin bathing suit look.

212Ugh. Does Jimmy Fallon hawk an NFT at the end?tommy wrote: Thu Feb 24, 2022 10:53 amSkip to 5:08biscuitdough wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:56 pmSure. But watch an interview with Anna Sorokin and then the intro monologue. Julia Garner might think she’s doing Russian and German, but it’s coming across Israeli and Norwegian, with a lobotomy.brephophagist wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:18 pm
I haven't watched this or met Anna Delvey, but a fake "vaguely European" accent is actually consistent with the article this series is based on.

213The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is actually pretty good. DO NOT read anything about this or watch the trailer before viewing, though.

214I watched Malignant on HBO Max last night. I knew nothing about it going in. It was ridiculous, but....I liked it? Ending reminded me of the original Nightmare on Elm Street.
"Whatever happened to that album?"

215Yep! They accomplished what they set out to do with season 1, so they're just further leaning into absurdity this time. I love it.Verge of Light wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:32 pmYeah, I wish they would have dumped the whole season at once. 216I loved Fishing With John. I didn't make it to ep.2 of Painting With John. Does it get better?penningtron wrote: Sat Feb 26, 2022 11:57 amYep! 217Not radically different, no.tommy wrote: Mon Feb 28, 2022 8:55 am I loved Fishing With John. I didn't make it to ep.2 of Painting With John. Does it get better?
I had the opposite take. I went back to a few Fishing With Johns, didn't learn anything revealing from the interesting guests and sport fishing is brutal and pointless.
