32I haven’t had the Tim’s Cascade Cajun chips in 25 years, and I still think about them from time to time.Krev wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:06 pm If you're in the Pacific Northwest and find Tim's smoked gouda chips, don't hesitate to purchase.
Re: Flavour delivery medium: Potato or Tortilla chip
33If we are talking of a medium for delivering the flavoring of the chip itself, both are prime candidates. If we are talking about a medium for delivering flavors beyond that of the chip itself, tortilla chip remains undisputed king. The structural integrity of a potato chip cannot withstand the weight of a good salsa or guacamole, not even a corrugated one (or "ruffled" if you will). You cannot make nachos from potato chips. I have witnessed simpletons attempt this fool's game, and their antics disgust me. Do not insult nachos in front of me.

34Aside from BBQ and Salt+Pepper (and, OK, nacho flavored Doritos if someone brings them), I'm not a fan of flavored chips (novelty or otherwise).
There used to be these Salsa Rio Flavor Doritos, I remember they smelled like Elmer's Glue.

36Sour Cream & Cheddar Ruffles are kinda the shit.
I'd rather be throwing darts.

37Guilty pleasure territory but my favorite potato chips are probably Pringles. I like how instantly (eerily) they melt away in your mouth.
I don't really like kettle chips. How can something so oily be so stale? Not to mention the 1 in every 10 or so chips that's burnt as shit.

I actually find the inconsistencies to be alluring, like a pizza with a crust that is not a perfect circle, half-burnt, and with a ton of air bubbles.

39oh yeah.. charred bits can be great in so many things, just not so much chips. They just hurt your teeth.jfv wrote: Tue Nov 08, 2022 1:35 pm I actually find the inconsistencies to be alluring, like a pizza with a crust that is not a perfect circle, half-burnt, and with a ton of air bubbles.

40Tortilla chips, all the way.
I always wanted to do a blog where I go around Austin and San Antonio, just ordering water and chips, then documenting the quality of the chips, along with the patience of the staff. How long can I go before they kick me out? My blog name is Philip, and the name of the blog is Philip On Chips.
