Also...crackers? Croutons? I used to eat my soup w/ a stupidly high ratio of crackers-to-liquid. Still soup. Milk? Also [technically] soup. If you heated it in the microwave and sipped it from a spoon and told folks you were eating soup, you wouldn't be tricking anyone....because there's no trick. You could add crackers to a bowl of hot milk and it's soup, why not? Yeah it's gross but so are a lot of soups. Grossness, soggyness, crunchiness, weirdness - none of that affects a soup's intrinsic "soup-ness." If it's liquid and it's food, it's still soup.
Surprised this is still even being questioned and that so many people are entrenched in cereal NOT being soup at this point when it clearly is a form of soup or technically soup even if you don't really think of it as being soup. It is. It's breakfast soup. In fact if you told a co-worker you had "breakfast soup" that morning, they might chuckle at you for being the office weirdo but they would know you were talking about cereal.
Again, soup is liquid food. It's the only consistent definition.
