I love Metal Circus through Candy Apple Grey but I chose Zen Arcade through Flip Your Wig. Land Speed Record is absolutely terrible.

The closest thing to an ideal cross-section of Du would probably be the 3-album NewDay-Flip-CandyApple run...it's their evolution as a band in a nutshell. I don't find the Warehouse sound overly distracting, as (for me) the songs win out massively here. It's a great record.

I love pretty much everything they ever did (again, LSR excepted), so haven't been able to narrow it down to a three that I can happily vote for!

Metal Circus + the "Extra Circus" outtakes EP thing that was released a few years ago featuring what are maybe some of their best HC era tunes. One of my favorite bands of all time but strangely enough I generally love listening to them in small batches of 4 to 5 songs at a go. I can't remember the last time I listened through a HD full length from beginning to end.

Copper Blue and File under are also v good so you could say they have a near perfect discography.

Epic band. Zen Arcade and New Day Rising are tops for me. Land Speed Record would rule if it had been recorded properly. As it is, it's a mess. This band was big for me in high school.

"Tilted" might be the greatest song Bob Mould has written in terms of guitar playing at least.
