Were you expecting levity? It's a thread entitled "Politics" not "favorite cookie recipes." The Trump administration is going to get people killed and worse. Go to any other thread and you'll see the same people (except hbidenguy) cracking jokes, geeking out over gear, and waxing romantic about favorite artists and albums. You'll see that it's not the people who are grim, it's the topic.
Though I’ve been here for almost 10 years and I don’t post here that often, pictures at least of my joy on display and that of my community are featured prominently on my instagram. I don’t want to link to it for safety reasons but there are a few people here who know. Almost everyone in those pictures is terrified about what’s been happening, has broken down into each others’ arms about it, has cried to sleep about it. There are people in my pictures who are no longer alive, and there will almost certainly be more who don’t survive then next 4 years. I just want to play music and kiss my partners and not have to live under constant abuse. None of us deserves this, no one deserves this
As I've said to you in the past, I love seeing you and your friends having fun on Instagram and I hate to hear that one or some of them aren't with us anymore.
I can't find it now but I saw a tweet today that listed the ages of Trump and other old shrivs and said something to the effect of "don't let them outlive you" or something meaning hey, these jerks will be gone soon and I want you to be here when they are. I know there are people who are happy about the high rate of suicide among LGBTQ+ people, and I believe that even if there's nothing else you can do to change things, just being alive is an act of resistance. Please keep fighting!
