The fake Excellent Italian leak

I know it's kind of a dickhead thing to do, but I couldn't resist. People on other forums were raving about it... "easily one of the top five Shellac songs!", "Based on these leaked tracks, this album is gonna be a motherfucker!" etc. The funniest thing about this is that the people from Technician are apparently still adamant that they aren't ripping off Shellac. Nice!

Che cazzo stai dicendo? Why you are not to post this in the 'eccellente Italiano falso'?
Essere fottuto! Porco rosso! Levriero!

Leaking a Technician album and claiming that it was Shellac is a dick move.
It is disrespectful to Technician and to Shellac.

Technician have an avowed Shellac influence. So what? Shellac sound more than a little bit like Gang of Four at times, have you noticed? At least they have good taste in music. You conduct your business and they will conduct theirs.

Gotta give props to the mindfuck, plus the all-encompassing element of the joke. Think about it, the people who were against downloading it were part of the joke, the people who got impatient for the album and downloaded it were part of the joke, every Shellac rip-off band was part of the joke, the people who loved "the new album" AND the people who were disappointed in it were part of the joke, and everyone discussing it was part of the joke. I bet the download-abstainers feel mighty proud about their choice now, but not because of their conviction as much as the relief of not being duped (although everyone was duped who participated in the debate). And for the record, I wouldn't have DL'ed the record either because I know an aluminum Albini-Bot would have crushed my larynx in the middle of the night.

Maybe this experience will help musicians to reflect upon their sounds and influences and produce more original music (yeah right).

yeah, that's the idea
what exactally is there to respect about the fake Shellac band in the first place?
Like nobody is spossed to notice what they are doing is really creepy and pathetic and never mention it?
pfft, they should be a real band if they are that touchy about it.

and to Shellac.[/quote]

how?

Gang of Four? Shellac sounds nothing at all like Gang of Four, what are you talking about?
They don't have 'an avowed shellac influence' they are copying another band's every move. They use exactally the same equipment! That is one of the most pathetic things I have ever even heard of happening in all of music ever.
