Gang of Four is fantastic, among my favorite bands.

But there's a weight to those first three P.I.L. records that is unparalleled.

I voted just to be snarky, but this pretty much is a tie.

Gang Of Four was great. Are they still? I haven't seen them. Never hit me as hard as PiL though. There's still nothing in the world that sounds like Metal Box, where there's a lot that sounds like Entertainment!. I dunno. That could probably be disproven too, but to me, PiL was just a totally unique band. And I still get a kick out of the fact that a Sex Pistol was involved and remained relevant for more than a year after 1978.

I give it to PiL.
