Re: Rock & roll thunderdome: Melody vs. Noise

Interesting question.

Nothing can beat a great melody but:

I hate it when a great melody is executed to blandly or recorded too poorly.

On the other hand, a great, well recorded and placed blast of noise is just so pleasing and cool.

Can't vote really.

It's super awesome when you can recognise a catchy melody buried in heavy noise...

Needless to say I'm talking bout "palatable" noise (rock?), not really weird electronic drone shit.

Once I can hum a melody I loose interest in it pretty quickly. It’s the textures that get me
What if you let Sneaky Pete play melodies as things get more and more "Noise Fest..."?

I would not rush out and buy the record but I don’t mind this at all. Who are Medicine?

Remedy this. Fine band.
So, about that...

Nineties California band. Got lumped in with "Shoegaze...", but I always kinda felt like the band never exactly fit into that.

Anyway, anyone who leans toward "Noise..." might want to seriously consider taking some time to look into the band along with the bands that Brad Laner was in later(Electric Company, in particular...)
