I like pizza a lot. A kinds of pizza. I love the frozen Jewel (Chicago Supermarket chain) Chef's Kitchen (house brand) cheese pizza, for the love of God.
So I don't have a there's-only-specific-pizza-all-other-pizza-is-absolute-garbage mentality. I have had crummy lukewarm soggy shitty slices in New York. I have had change your life perfect New York style slices here in the city of big shoulders and vice versa. My favorite NY style is at Cafe Luigi on Clark St. My favorite over by me is the thin crust at Ledo's in Countryside. They do that Chicago thing of cutting up the round pie into squares - thassa bummer. But the za is reliably tastey. Growing up, I really liked the deep dish pizza at Kelsey Road House on Rte 12. Or rte 14, one of those.

And Zomalomadingdong is correct. You can get you some awe-inspiring pizza in the old country. That Neopolitan stuff. Oh, Madon.

every time i order mushrooms on a pizza at a 'NYC style' pizza place (either in NYC or northern Jersey), they put those slimy, anchovie-like canned mushrooms on them. what the fuck? even pizza hut uses real sliced mushrooms. retire your superior pizza complex if you're gonna use that shit.

canned mushrooms.. have some fuckin' dignity.

though i'm not too crazy about much pizza anymore except for the super thin woodburning oven stuff. it's hard to beat a good pizza margherita.

The best pizza I've had is at a place where I grew up. I would recommend it if you are over by dere.

NYC stole my favorite band and for that they will never be forgiven.

I couldn't say that the 'style' of a pizza factors much into whether I prefer one pizza over another; the ultimate determinant is the quality of the toppings. Am I right or am I right?

I love Giordano's stuffed pizza, which looks pretty similar to the one Itchy McBeff posted here. It's delicious. I eat it with a fork and knife when it's hot, and then eat it cold by hand for another two or three meals worth of food in the following couple days. Fucking kills.

Thin pizza, too, we got a million places do it good here.

The style I think of as "New York" pizza is basically what you get at Sbarro... one big floppy triangle. It's also excellent.

But it can't touch thick and stuffed (we got at least four places here that do it great, assuming Guliano's is still around) or the cut-into-pieces-the-size-of-a-credit-card style thin we got here.

Sometimes I get NY style pizza here, at Bacci. It's roughly NY style. I like it, cause it's a block away and it's easy. But it's not the best.

Sorry NY!!! Just add it to the list!! One more way Chicago kicks your lame ass!!!
