Re: Best/favourite opening lines
32Well I watched the fire in earnest
'cause I thought it would quell my pain
But the more that I saw you burning
the more I only felt the same
I wasn't drinking to forget, I was drinking to remember
how I once might have looked through the eyes of a stranger
When all hope should be gone, still a dream somehow lingers
like the ghost of a snowstorm in frostbitten fingers
'cause I thought it would quell my pain
But the more that I saw you burning
the more I only felt the same
I wasn't drinking to forget, I was drinking to remember
how I once might have looked through the eyes of a stranger
When all hope should be gone, still a dream somehow lingers
like the ghost of a snowstorm in frostbitten fingers

35I played that record a lot, and got to see them several times “back in the day.” They embraced a kind of central texas desert country sound differently than other did, and it worked really well. Helps that Aaron had an fantastic voice and the slide player was great - it made for a really unique thing.
I’ll have to listen to that soon.
