Fun fact/dork brag: For years I could play a note for note rendition of Phil Woods's sax solo on that song. Someone thought it was a level of smooth jam excellence that demanded sheet music. If you listen carefully you can hear Woods was a student of Paul Desmond and Stan Getz, which makes sense if you want smoothness to be your most salient musical attribute.
There is a scene in Todd Solondz's Happiness where Jane Adams's character is being wooed by a Russian taxi driver. He whips out an acoustic guitar and starts playing "You Light Up My Life" while she looks-on all googly-eyed.
