Just saw some of their concert at MSG on the MSG network. They are pretty much KISS without the make-up...and Pat Smear.

Does anyone else like audience shots where the audience members mouth incorrect lyrics? I really like that.

No offense, Dave Grohl.

That song "The Pretender" reminds me of Sesame Street. "One of these things is not like the other!"

Too much cock in that rock for me.

Another thing I noticed is that he chews gum while he sings. WTF?

Their first single before "This is a call" was "Exhausted", which is a really good proto-dirt grunge song, complete with "Sad" vocals and "Sad" lyrics. Pretty and dirty all at the same time. I thought they were going to keep going in that direction.

They didn't = CRAP

The Foo Fighters = Hüsker Dü for Dummies.

However, my vote is NOT CRAP. It's as good as big dumb mainstream radio rock ever got in the '90s, and to be honest with you, the idea that big dumb rock is somehow "bad" seriously begs the question. Big Star attempted to put out "big dumb rock" on their first two records. Here Come The Warm Jets can be considered big dumb rock. Jesus of Cool has quite a few moments of meta-big-dumb rock.

Big dumb rock, in fact, has greater intellectual appeal to me since it often tickles my existential bone more than bloated high-school lit references and other nit-natter from privileged white kids who really aren't saying anything meaningful about the human condition at all.

"Everlong" is a great song with great dynamics and pacing. Grohl has successfully pulled off being Grant Hart slicked out for radio. NOT CRAP.

they're ok...

some things i've heard i've really liked. some have been more "eh". saw them live and enjoyed it. grohl tends to scream a lot, which was cool.

not crap. waffles...like 2.
