I think their ability to polarize people is kinda awesome. I saw them live by accident last fall when I went to see Hella at the arena show they were playing (and were kind enough to get me into), and thought they were pretty interesting for the 20 minutes or so I watched them.

Because nobody has that kind of attention span these days, it was sort of amazing that their songs were so long.

That said, I don't think I could bear to sit down and listen to an album, but I'm curious to see what happens with Blake Fleming back playing drums with them.

Even though I'm into the Mars Volta (all of their albums), this shit gave me a visual that made me laugh for a good two minutes.

I don't understand the lingo "Waffles" and I really don't want to start a thread (that's not a threat) asking about this. If someone could help shed some light for me that would rule.

they were funny for 20 minutes but it became really tiresome after a while (3 hour show). i think even great fans were bored.

I have De-loused in the Comatorium, and it's ok, but the last time I listened to it, which was a long time ago, I remember noting that they really needed to structure their fucking tunes more - and considering that everything I've heard since (not fucking much) was damn unstructured, impossibly self-involved and wanky, I doubt I'm going to start getting into them more.

Plus, the lyrics are some of the most pseudo-literate, graphomaniacal pig shit ever spewed onto a recording, so they have that working against them.

omar rodriguez lopez is a beast. if i had to crap or not crap mars volta i would not crap because of lopez and the rhythm section, but definitely not because of zavala.

This band makes some eminently terrible music.

I know some people who liked this band early on.

I feel bad that this band is so CRAP.
