44Along with Mike Patton (lord help me), Primus served as my bridge to real music. I worshiped them from 8th grade through my sophomore year of high school. After I was over that phase, I wasn't sure if Primus was a shitty band or I had just listened to them too much. I choose the former. They're as cheesy as any 90's "alternative rock" band, albeit for different reasons. They managed the occasional moment of heavy clarity, but really, who notices when they're just so damn clever?
They may stop kids from listening to Avenged Sevenfold, but that's like poisoning potential juvenile delinquents to keep them off the streets. Their young fans end up with holier-than-thou attitudes, an affinity for Rush and Tool, and no appreciation for bassists who don't slap and drummers who don't use a double pedal.
Also, Les' "Spinal Tap Jazz Odyssey" approach to music these days makes me sick.
Crap with a Paul Bunyan-sized portion of waffles for sentimental value and their importance in my musical development. Loving Primus beyond age 16 (or the equivalent in your musical lifetime) is like being stuck in the early stages of puberty.

45I'm not going to vote now.
I like Larry Lalonde's playing. That's what I enjoy in their music, the bleak sounds he makes with his guitar. I would like to hear him in a different context.

50I saw them a while back and they only played for a little over an hour. That was Crap. It was an excellent show and everything, but for a $40 ticket I expect a little longer set than that.
But still, Not Crap.
