I dont understand how anyone can call Primus, or any band really, CRAP if they where influenced by them as a wee lad / lass. Assuming you dont hate yourself, I would guess folks would be greatful for all the music that got them to were they are now, as both a player, and a fan of music.

That said. Not Crap.

Used to be a fan until I saw them live, and then I wish I stayed home. (this was opening for Public Enemy and Anthrax. The whole lineup ended up being really disappointing, although Joey Belladonna was really funny to listen to live, and this was one of this final shows with the band, so thank you Joey for making me laugh when I otherwise couldn't smile, or something like that but anyway...)

i think the later albums are actually... better than the earlier ones? The problem is that many fans fell off before their best material came along. The other problem is that they still had to put out singles on these later albums, and these singles from Pork Soda and after were really really fucking bad.

But songs like the 8-minute "Hamburger Train" are up there with, say, the first Golden Palominos album to me. Not as much but the same with The Brown Album. The Winona Beaver song is just awful awful shit, but the rest of the album was better than anything I've heard from the band since the early days.

Basically:
* Up into Sailing The Seas of Cheese: great singles with filler on albums
* After that: really shitty singles with superior and grossly underrated album tracks.

So, I can't really say Crap or Not Crap. True dilemma equilibrium!

Half Crap.
"Pro Tools is too California Hollywood bullshit.”

I saw this show. What a strange night and mix of people. This was in Oakland on the same night that the Oakland hills were totally on fire! It was an eerie experience driving on the freeway to Oakland to see a fucking concert and watching not too far in the distance hundreds and hundreds of houses on fire.

I can't say I didn't like them at the time, but I have to say crap in 2007.

I agree with Mackro.

I think the run from Pork Soda through The Brown Album is fairly solid, and relatively dark. More fans probably fell off after Tales From The Punchbowl than at any other point in the band, but I consider that the middle point of a fairly creative musical run.

I need to go pick up Pork Soda again.
