Had it in June/July 2020 (4 weeks in bed, hospital visit on day 9 (not admitted) -- fucking surreal and scary 4.5 on a scale 6).

As an experiment/trigger regarding human behavior, COVID-19 makes me want to forget. Very disappointing, notwithstanding the great strides that the science made. People have not totally followed. Pandemics and other like events fit in the blind spots of our cognition and warp our social dynamics, apparently, neutering our great strengths.

No lie. It's silly to think the novel coronavirus vaccine is comparable to anything we have experienced in our lifetimes. People are genuinely taking a minute to think things through and that's fine with me.

You are not saying anything I don't already know. I'm just saying it's tone-deaf to require all parents of school children to be vaccinated or fire workers if they don't want to share their medical info while the rest of the world is still playing catch-up. Especially when the vaccine is doing such a great job of preventing deaths.

Got my first Astra-Zeneca jab in March, and the second one in June.

I realize you can still contract the virus even after you've had both jabs, but vaccination at least protects most recipients from the worst of the symptoms. Sadly the vaccine came too late for my friend James' mother, who went into hospital with pancreatitis just before Christmas, caught Covid whilst on the ward and died.

Workers rights include safety for all workers, not the rights to privacy. Like it or not, that’s the way it is. If you’re making a “workers have a right to privacy” argument, then you’re just setting up the already successful counter-argument that the rights of the company and the workforce trump the individual. This is established precedent. Since that argument is already settled, and students and workers can be compelled to be vaxxed per last weeks ruling, then I figured we weren’t discussing that. I wish that your choices didn’t impact others. If the truth were “I only get sick when I am irresponsible and I will have no ability to impact someone else’s life” then you’d have a point. When that is the case, I don’t care what anyone does. However, when choices have material impact on workers health (see smoking/non smoking section case law/my smoking is my choice and doesn’t hurt anyone else) then this shit has already been put to rest.

The rest is just tea-party/libertarian speak for “don’t tread on my bod.” Which, yes, is a RP and TC staple. Waffles for abortion of course. Or police brutality. But those are separate discussions.
