This guy's huge stadium movie was on HBO recently, and I watched the first half-hour or so.

What theeee fuck.

I didn't laugh once. I didn't even crack a smile.

How the fuck did this dipshit get famous?

Hasn't anyone noticed that he has no fucking punchlines?

Sucks. I think his entire audience must be drunken frat boys. He's not popular in the comedy world- it is said that he steals material ( apparently from other bad stand-ups ).

He poured a ton of his own money into promoting his web sites, and that gave him a leg up when it came to getting bookings from comedy clubs, because it manufactured demand. From there, it snowballed.

From a Salon critique:
His comedy is most notable for what it lacks: a critique of the political climate (Dennis Miller, George Carlin, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher), a commentary on our culture (Chris Rock, David Chappelle), a slightly tweaked perspective (Ray Romano, Steven Wright, Jerry Seinfeld), outrageously dirty material (Eddie Murphy, Andrew Dice Clay), or just a goofy, oddball routine (Howie Mandel). Although his delivery can be chafingly smug, Cook doesn't present himself as anything special. He likes video games and chicks and sports and other general-purpose guy stuff. He's not particularly baffled by the world, or all that perceptive, or all that self-aware. He's a little self-deprecating, a little bit cutesy and a little bit aggressive, but most important, he treats mundane experiences like they're huge revelations: Breakup sex is the best, right? Right! Sometimes you have to lie to get out of stuff you don't want to do. I know you've done it, too, bro!

But Cook's is the sort of non-threatening humor that appeals to people who, when watching Jon Stewart or Jerry Seinfeld, don't feel like they're in on the joke. With Cook, you're always in on the joke

i was gonna pretty much quote the whole thread thus far, but what would be the point of that?

cook is a dipshit. i saw his act a couple times on tv and it was both unelightening and unentertaining.

the DMB comparison is apt me thinks.

no clue as to why he's even considered a comedian, he just kinda talks about shit that's not amusing in an extremely non-amusing sort of way.
I see he does this in arenas full of people and they are all going nuts for it.
This baffles me, I try and figure out what it is exactly they are hootin' and hollerin' about but I can't. I really can't.
CRAP.

Maybe my standards have been lowered because of the lack of talent and reliance on special effects comedians seem to deal with nowadays, but I found some of this guy's stuff to be pretty funny.

Can you recommend anyone better? I'm all ears....

I haven't voted yet.

I guy I work with had some of his skits and I listened to them. 90% of it was quite fucking dull, but I have to admit the skit about the Kool-Aid man was quite funny (sorry, the YouTube version is edited and has some gae assed animation- not the same version I heard). I see he's in some frat boy movie with Joosica Simpleton that got one star. Great.

1 good Skit out of ten: Crappleton.

If he were on fire, I would smother him with Larry the Cable Guy.

How about Louis CK? He is hilarious, one of my favorite comics right now, and Dane Cook happened to steal three different bits from him word for word.
