I can't agree with this. Stomping around other countries killing innocent civilians *creates* terrorists, it doen't prevent them.

Point taken, and I don't doubt that the USA being an occupying force in Afghanistan for ~ 20 years did create many terrorists.

If the USA had not launched any sort of military offensive and left Al Qaeda intact, though, do you think that Al Qaeda would have said, "Well, that was good enough, our work here is done."?

Anyway, this is debating history. Hopefully the USA has learned our lesson at this point after Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and others...
