Band: Lee Bains and the Glory Fires

I created a thread on these guys on the old forum and I stand by the fact that I find them amazing.

If you're wondering what they're all about, their best record is here:



A punk version of southern rock.

BUT TODAY the reason I bring them up is because Lee has a series of poems excerpted in the Goddamn New Yorker.

There's audio of Lee reading these poems aloud, at that link. Yes, he's really that country. He's also one of the finest men I've ever met. Two of us who know him were eating at a Chinese bbq restaurant the other night and we agreed: If a hand grenade rolled into a room, you'd have to race Lee Bains to be the one to jump on it first.

The South's got something to say, indeed.

Agree 100%. He and his band are my ideal version of Rock and Roll. Was he in the Dexateens at one point? Another band I love so much. So fun live.
