Wait, is it Neo, or Johnny Silverhand?

It was crap, but my understanding is that the discussion between "Johnny" and his boss--where he essentially told him: "hey we're going to make a new Matrix game whether you like or not, but we'd really prefer if you were on board"--is a direct analog to how the Wachowskis were approached about this movie.

So they did a decent job of trying to minimize whatever studio bullshit may have resulted if a Wachowski hadn't been there.. Who knows, maybe a Matrix film unfettered from the Wachowskis would've been good.
