I've been to only the northern one and that place was chilly during a mid-day June, holy mackerel.

However, there was something kind of magical about the fog & lightning over Lake Superior at night, falling asleep to the sound of the bridge horn.

Big fan of Duluth, MN. Nice city on the lake; one of the hilliest in the Midwest.

I'll pass on Duluth, GA.

I live in Atlanta. Decatur, to be exact - but not far from Duluth. Duluth, GA sucks.

Minnesota - even though I've never been there.

I've never been to Duluth, MN, but at least it's not Georgia.

I've never set foot in Minnesota in my life (yet), but their Duluth has a claim on Bob Dylan and Maria Bamford.

I've been to Georgia and yeah no.

Low too.

Neither are destinations to me but I don't want anything to do with the south that's not (at least near) a college town or bigger city.

Duluth is part of the metro Atlanta area, so you're good there. It's just the worst of strip mall, big box store, congestion hell. It's actually pretty diverse, so not really what I suspect many of y'all think of when you think 'the South'.

Do not fall for the false Duluth. There is only one, the gate of the great Gitche Gumee. UMD Bulldogs. Low. Black Eyed Snakes. Charlie Parr. Cool people. Great skiing. Grandma's Marathon. The lift bridge.

Seriously, no contest.

Duluth MN has to be better than Duluth GA.

Hard to tell, Georgians are idiots, but Minnesotans are idiots, too. All of Georgia is notoriously racist, and Duluth is also notoriously racist. I'd wager they're both probably crap.
