Heh, had to warn my American brother:

“Hey what hats should I bring?”

“None. Bring no hats.”
This is now officially an international issue; assholes have taken over the hat game.

It's the same in America, we just have a lot more dickheads. Randy is, of course, the exception proving the rule.

In the not so distant 80s when the mousse craze was at its zenith, the dickheads refused to wear hats. They would be on a mountain peak in twenty below and hurricane winds with no hat. The band Men Without Hats was named for their refusal to wear hats in the cold of Montreal to appear fashionable.

Just weeks ago a friend was asking if there was a hat that wasn’t totally taken over by jerks.

Man, as my hair is really thinning out, this question has become real for me out of concern for sun exposure. I burn walking to check the mail. When working outside I do what I use whatever free ball cap from whatever concrete or siding supply company that is around.

My dad has a serious collection of farmer hats and souvenir hats that you don’t really see anymore. I think these are the same as trucker hats for the most part. I used to hear my uncles go on an on about the best way to curve a brim and what the ideal curve is.

I miss living in the cold mountains where it was a-okay wearing whatever goofy outfit kept you warm. I remember having a silly looking ear-flap hat that I loved. I lost it in a boozed up night hopping from party to party.

I have a mad bomber hat (cap, I suppose) that my mother gave me as a gift probably 30 years ago. Makes me look like I'm auditioning for the Hogan's Heroes reboot, but also warm AF and I'm well into the age of not giving AF either. I have a battered old pea green fishing/bucket hat that I've had for probably just as long, still has my 1998 Green Party pin on the side. It's been stolen, recovered, lost, found, hidden, discovered, yet keeps coming back like a boomerang. The only new hat I wear is a high school hockey team beanie.
