I am all but certain that Blacky was a forum member back then.
Re: Discography: Voivod
12DH, KT, NF, WAP. I would have picked RRRRoooar or however you spelled it over WAP based on the rough mix that was sent out to fanclub members and is easy to find on the 'net but the record as it came out with too much reverb is very hard to enjoy for me.
Re: Discography: Voivod
13I've got KT on the turntable right now. What an incredible record. So, so fuckin' ahead of its time.

Re: Discography: Voivod
14Killing Technology, Dimension Hatross and Nothingface are probably their peak but I have a soft spot for The Outer Limits. The 17 minute Jack Luminous is in many ways my ultimate Voivod song. Wish I'd been able to see the original lineup live.

Re: Discography: Voivod
16Rrröööaaarrr thru Nothingface is all great. I haven't kept up past The Outer Limits.
Re: Discography: Voivod
17Glad I've committed to this as it's been great fun. Up to Negatron, and haven't heard a note post-Phobos. Had forgotten how much I enjoy some of these records.A_Man_Who_Tries wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 12:29 pm Now that is tough. Might use this as an excuse to revisit them all.

18Just finishing Synchro Anarchy.
I figured this would be a fun diversion, given that I had heard zip or the second half of Voivod's career, and that I'd still be picking from the usual late-80s suspects. Much trickier than that, as they've put out consistently enjoyable records throughout.

Re: Discography: Voivod
19Voivod have managed to continue to sound relevant, inventive, and true to themselves throughout their career, even at what some consider their low points (the albums without Snake). I find myself going back to the first five more often than the rest of the catalog, but I still enjoy their new material on the same level. I suppose I'm just falling victim to my own nostalgia.A_Man_Who_Tries wrote: Tue Mar 14, 2023 8:05 am Just finishing Synchro Anarchy.

20I think it's just they've remained vital even with all the internal strife. Their 80's thrash cohorts could take a lesson.
