A controversial name on these boards. Anyway, what's your favorite from the only decade they made good music in?

I love all of these records. Rembrandt was my first purchase but LAT is my favorite.

I like Rembrandt... the most, but L.A.T. is their one really essential release and a shining moment of aesthetic perfection - having their own studio to dick around in did them a lot of favours, I think.

The Blind Eye Sees All DVD (live performance from 1985) is the best Surfers stuff IMHO. Out of those records I picked Rembrandt.

Oh man, tough call, it's a toss-up btw LAT and PPAMS. PPAMS was the first release I owned so it holds a special place. Can't choose yet. Maybe I need to listen back to back, or at the same damn time even.

Probably Steven slightly above Locust.

But I never really connected with their 80's output.

Nineties records, though substandard for the most part, at least sound good.

I don't love that band. But thank god for King Coffey's Trance Syndicate.

Voted LAT, but PPAMS is a very very close second.

LAT was my entry into the Buttholes. I love everything about it. Kuntz is pretty stupid though. You could cut that and it would make the album even better.

Brown Reason through LAT are all great. It's hits and misses from there until Pioughed. Then I stopped listening because IWS fucking sucked.

No, What they did with Kuntz is brilliant and hilarious. I know some Thai people (born in Thailand, live in Los Angeles) who think it's great. Context is everything.
