This is a layup. And why didn’t you include Solid Gold?

American Bandstand unceremoniously went off the air in 1989, so I knew of it only as a historical artifact, and Clark mostly for his NYE hosting duties for decades afterwards. Soul Train signalled when my precious Saturday Morning cartoons ended, which cant be forgiven.

I remember seeing Clark on a NYE broadcast after he had recovered from his stroke, it was kinda hard to watch.

Soul Train was such a lifeline growing up in rural bumfuck North Dakota (nearest stoplight was 110 miles away when I was a kid, much less a record store of McDonald's).
Caved my head in regularly. Thank god for WGN.

In New Orleans, the schedule was cartoons, 6 hours of “Kung Fu Theater”, then Soul Train. Saturdays ruled.
