i've got an m-audio delta 1010. i have had some problems with it in the past, and a lot of people i know have had some major problems with them, but it sounds good and works well now. if you get one (not that you would, as they are now pretty well obsolete), make sure you get it from a place that ...

tmidgett:
yeah. i didn't mean to get into the ol' anolog-vs-digital argument. i still stand by all the assertions i made, as i'm sure you do, but in the interest of the people who have to read this garbage, i'm not going to talk about it anymore.

the sound of compression

oh yeah...in case you guys are wondering where steve albini stands on compression:

"I want to find the guy that invented compression and tear his liver out. I hate it. It makes everything sound like a beer commercial."

ha! i don't care! i love it!

i used to use nuendo, but then i felt bad and decided to actually buy some software ...

the reason people still use tape is because it colors the sound. digital media, even at 16bit 44.1k, offers a much more faithful representation of the ...

the sound of compression

the thing is, without compression, you will get a more natural sounding recording. for this reason, acoustic instruments might be better uncompressed. i have never recorded drums, so i honestly don't know how to do it, but i'm beginning to feel like compression isn't necessary for most instruments ...

i use cubase sx and i really like it a lot. sx 1.0 and 2.0 both came out on PC first, which would lead me to believe that they at the very least had PC in mind moreso than mac. just like any recording software (or pretty much any software in general), it blows the hell up from to time, and doesn't ...

What s your bass rig?

SWR workingman's 300 and an SWR workingman's 4x10T.

nothing but the crappy for me! it actually sounds pretty rad if you turn it up louder than it wants to go. it has a nice fart-like quality to it.
