I think i'll try a noise gate. Any recommendations / any I should steer clear of - given the nature of the problem?

Im pretty sure i went for the s-jag 2s. They cleared up the sound eventhough they are more bassy.

Well, I cant sing through them, but if sung into they'll produce some undefinable noise - not that loud though. But a more focused air stream, like blowing into them can clearly be heard as a sssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhssssssss-sound.
