NB. I wasn't suggesting ONLY using a Sansamp, (although it can work) but as DI's go I find theyre much nicer sounding when sat alongside a Mic'd signal.
Plus you can put a bit of drive on there and they become much more useful.

I use a Tech21 Sansamp Bass driver. While it's a GREAT DI box, has an XLR output AND a 2 jack outputs (great for splitting to two amps), its also a good creative tool as it sounds ace.
Nice for adding some distortion and tone to dull bass sounds.

Try moving the Hi Hats away from the Snare a bit, physically. Then try putting the snare mic closer to the snare pointing away from the Hi Hats.
